Susan’s Checklist for Clean Living: 25 Things you can do to Improve your Health

Here are some possible ways to change the path of health. Pick one and see how it goes over time.

Personal Health:
1. Change your toothpaste and mouthwash to ones without fluoride; the pineal gland (main glad that makes melatonin to help you sleep) becomes calcified by fluoride. Fluoride is considered a poison (just look at the back of your toothpaste box). The top 10 countries with the best dental health do not add fluoride to their water.
2. Select a deodorant that does not contain aluminum. Aluminum is a toxic substance which goes right into the breast tissue, pineal gland and lymphatics.
3. Lower the use of endocrine disruptors by changing your personal care products to ones without parabens, phthalates or petroleum. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interfere with the body’s hormone balance and are found many things including plastic containers, metal can linings, toys, pesticides and personal care products.
4. Sweat daily to help with toxin removal and shower afterward to remove toxins from your skin (optimal within 20 minutes).
5. Have a stool test to determine if your food is being properly metabolized and whether your gut microbiome is in balance.
6. Avoid anything with the word “fragrance or parfum” in it including candles, perfumes, and personal products. Look for products with organic essential oils.
Food and Health:
7. Choose organic foods over conventional – foods with the highest amount of the pesticide glyphosate (roundup) are oats, corn, soy, coffee, and wine/beer.
8. Read labels of anything in a package and reconsider purchasing items with food dyes, fake sweeteners, chemicals, additives and preservatives.
9. Avoid seeds oils – soybean, vegetable, cotton, canola, corn, cottonseed, sunflower, grapeseed, and peanut. These oils are inflammatory due to their omega 6 content.
10. Limit eating out and processed foods to avoid inflammatory oils.

Home Health:
11. Check your home for water leaks which can be drivers of mold spores in the air.
12. Get a proper water filter to lower intake of lead, mercury, arsenic and uranium – consider a whole house system since what you shower in, wash your food in, is as important or more important than what you drink. If you have a garden, watering your organic vegetables with contaminated water is not helping you.
13. Consider a good air filter for your home and work environment.
14. Turn off your Wi-Fi router at night and if you must talk on your cell phone use a wired cord versus putting it to your head or using air pods.
15. Use vinegar and baking soda to clean your home.
16. Start to re-think purchases in your home such as furniture and clothing (cotton versus synthetics).
17. Get rid of any synthetic plug-ins or products with synthetic fragrances and search for products with essential oils.
Kitchen Health:
18. Don’t drink out of plastic – use glass and consider only canned foods that have BPA free liners.
19. Store your food in glass containers (i.e. get rid of plastic containers).
20. Rethink your cooking pans – the safest ones are those made with ceramic or porcelain. Avoid non-stick pans and cast-iron pans.

Medical Health:
21. Don’t ignore gut challenges – make sure you are eliminating every day. Not eliminating causes toxins to recirculate in your system.
22. Don’t take your liver for granted – consider adding liver friendly foods to keep your main detox organ happy – dandelion greens, artichokes, dark green leafy and cruciferous vegetables, avocados, berries, fatty fish and teas (dandelion, peppermint, chamomile, lemon, ginger).
23. If you have amalgam fillings, consider a consult with a biological dentist to have them safely removed. Chewing on mercury daily is a risk for dementia and Alzheimer’s.
24. Learn how to rebalance your system daily with sleep, less stress, and meditation.
25. Ground every day for 5 minutes – it can reduce inflammation, re-charge your mitochondria and help your nervous system! Grounding is basically having contact with the surface of the earth (grass, soil, sand) by walking barefoot outdoors.
