Need a Refresh on your MI Skills?

I frequently hear at my workshops “I went to a webinar on MI and I’m just here for a refresh.” I silently cringe inside since as a trainer of 20 years I believe MI to be a complex language – something you cannot master in an hour, in a few workshops or even a year.

When asked how long it takes to learn MI, Dr. William Miller, one of the authors of the 4 books stated, “about 10 years.”

This is a difficult concept for most to wrap their heads around. However, since that time the research has shown that making recordings of tapes with clients along with coaching can increase someone’s skills exponentially.

Looking over my past blogs may help jumpstart some skills that may have become rusty so it might be worth a read or even going to another workshop.  You might be surprised how many new nuggets you pick up that will help advance your language to helps your clients with change.
