Four Entrepreneurial Women of Boise
After last month’s blog on healing women of Boise I wanted to call out 4 entrepreneurial women of Boise who have made an impact on me and helped me on my journey of being in a new state.
Summer is a realtor in Boise and is a remarkable human being who I found online when we considered moving to Boise. She has an incredible YouTube channel and even if you’re not moving to Boise, it’s fun to watch all the wonderful things to do here. After watching her “pros and cons of moving to Boise” I knew I had to contact her, and I will never forget her first words of “you haven’t even been here yet so perhaps come first and see if you even like it.”
She is extremely thoughtful of each client she works with, listens to what you really want in a home and tries to match your needs as best as possible. Summer moved mountains to help Jeffrey and I with our transition here and really takes you under her wing in unbelievable ways.
Nicole Pierce and Kelsey Jae of the Vervain Collective
Nicole and her partner Kelsey formed The Vervain Collective to support the natural health community and help those who are health conscious: support the growers, and makers of healthy products as well as professionals and others who are curious about becoming healthier. They weathered the storms of the pandemic and their recent expansion to a larger space in downtown Boise which took much longer than anticipated. Their resiliency and persistence in wanting to provide this service to the community is evident from the moment you walk into The Vervain Collective.
This wonderful holistic apothecary sells healing teas, thoughtful supplements, tinctures and local clean products for every need. If you want to a welcoming space for any ailment and helpful people to assist this is the place to go. I keep their teas stocked in the house and make a different one each night. Nicole and Kelsey are a testament to those that follow their passion, stayed in business and were able to have an expansion during a challenging time. Taylor Houston – Alternative Flour Bakeshop
Taylor followed her love for baking by going to culinary school and became a pastry chef. A few years into her career she realized consuming gluten and dairy did not agree with her system, so she started a business and created gluten free dairy free treats that include pastries, pies, and cookies. Jeffrey and I purchased her apple pie for Thanksgiving, and it was every bit as good as one my polish great-grandmother Babcia used to make which was a lovely surprise.
The crust was perfect and reminiscent of an eastern European pastry dough and the flavors of the sliced apples was decadent and the crumbling top rivaled any Parisian pastry shop. If you want a treat that doesn’t compromise your food allergies, she has many wonderful things to sample!
Jessica Harrold – Hen & Hare Microfarm
The first time I went to the Boise Farmer’s market I bought a jar of Jessica’s raspberry jam and did not realize what a treat we were in for when I got home.
Jessica grew up on a farm that wasn’t quite her passion and then she shifted towards micro-farming and bought a small 2-acre farm in south Boise. She grows all her own herbs, flowers, and makes amazing natural products including candles, soaps and salves without any fake fragrances, phthalates, parabens, etc. She sells lots of different gift baskets if you need a few things for the holidays.
I love her goat soap so much it makes me want to wash my hands! Her candles are wonderful for the home and her products feel great on your skin as they are all made with love, and essential oils.
Someone to help you find a home, teas, treats and organic healthy home products – which is why I now call Boise home.
